SUSAN SEXTON - WORLD CLASS WRESTLER
Sue Sexton is a pioneer of the Western Australian Pro Wrestling scene, even though not a lot a people may know her name. She was born in Perth and after seeing a ad on the side of the ring at a show at Perry Lakes Stadium, learnt to wrestle at a men’s club in the early 1970’s. Sue was trained by Ali Musa the Turk, before moving to the United States in 1975.
Sexton went on to carve out a successful career on the Independent scene, eventually being awarded the LPWA Heavyweight Championship in 1990 and holding it for a year, before losing it to Lady X on January 31, 1991. NWA/WCW for a period recognized the LPWA champion as the Women’s World Champion, and Sue made several appearances for the promotion in late 1990 even defending the title on Clash of the Champion XII - Fall Brawl: Mountain Madness on September 5,1990.
Apart from her success in the States, where she appeared on TV shows, like The Mike Douglas Show alongside Sonny Bono of Sonny and Cher fame, appearing in the 1989 film, American Angels: Baptism of Blood, as well as getting to know some of the biggest names in the wrestling world, such as Andre the Giant and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. Sexton also wrestled in Japan in the mid 1970’s for All Japan, getting a shot at the Women’s title.
After having a 20+ year career, Sue retired from wrestling in 1996 and currently lives in Los Angeles and is a pro wrestling trainer, as well as having an acting and writing career.
